A Slice of Heaven - July 2006
Cancer - the Moonchildren
The Sun enters the sign of Cancer when the days are longest, at the summer solstice The cautious individuals born at this time are influenced by the ever changing cycles of the Moon. This lunar influence on the cardinal water sign makes for strong links with the archetypal feminine. Anyone born on a Full Moon is also likewise influenced. The sign is symbolized by the reclusive Crab: tough shell on the outside, sweet and tender on the inside.
Cancer rules the home and has a certain nesting instinct, so their homes are special places: well protected, broadly supplied and frequently improved. It is a fertile and nurturing sign, with a mothering instinct that extends to all living things. Whether it’s plants, pets, kids, visitors or loved ones: everything is watered, fed, and pampered, big time. Consequently they make the most impeccable hosts, cooks and gardeners. Don’t expect your Cancer friend to come over to your place, they are often attached to their home turfs. Some hardly ever leave, unless in need for supplies. The men born under the sign tend to hide their soft, emotional interior under a layer of extra scruffy masculinity. A Cancer in crisis will retreat into one of their favorite places: the kitchen, the bed, or the bathtub. Of course these places regenerate all the rest of us, so July is the perfect time to cook with love, rest, recuperate and bond with friends and family.
Happy Birthday to the famous Topanga Cancers: Stevie Re, James Anders, Pam Fomalont, “Barefoot Danny“, Susan Hartman, Bill Buerge and Eric Rasmussen, who is born right on the Leo cusp. Of course there’s cheers and good wishes for any other Cancer folks, may it be your best year ever.
Here are some planetary highlights for the current month. Their effects will be felt more strongly by those more whose birthday falls on, or near them.
Venus sextiles Saturn
A fine time to strategize money matters. Venus in Gemini is chatting it up with Saturn in Leo, the power player in a business suit. The long weekend has lots of opportunities for multi faceted, multi generational get-togethers. Bring your business cards and seize the day.
Mercury SR 1* Leo
With Mercury doing the roundabout as the nations Birthday is celebrated, you can expect plenty of nostalgia, remembering, going back to the roots, and family reunions. The next 3 weeks are great for healing old wounds, getting in touch with loved ones from the past, or visits to places you haven’t seen since you were little. Enjoy!
Mars opposes Neptune, Venus squares Uranus
Oh boy! Dreamy men and reckless ladies, good for romance, not the best for business. Watch out in traffic as people may have a hard time re-integrating after the long weekend.
Jupiter SD, Sun trines Uranus
When Jupiter stations it’s extra strong, so expect some excitement, gung-ho attitudes and incentive for change
Venus trines Neptune
Here’s another fine day for romance, especially for Air signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra) No matter what sign you are, feel encouraged to call up your sweetheart and enjoy. This aspect facilitates lucid dreaming, so make sure you get plenty of zzzh’s.
Full Moon 19* Capricorn, Mercury enters Cancer
This Full Moon peaks right at sunset, and it’s in ‘out of bounds’ declination, rising much further south than usual. This makes for erratic shifts in peoples moods, needs and desires. Keep your feet on the ground and whatever is going on, remember: If it’s a feeling, it’ll pass.
Mars trines Pluto, Venus opposes Pluto, Venus sextiles Mars
This promises a pretty steamy weekend. Wild passions, long talks and lots of physical stamina. You can enjoy sports, preferably outside and in nature, tackle big projects or make the best of Mercury retrograde: complete any unfinished stuff from the past.
Sun conjunct Mercury Ret. Venus enters Cancer
Lots of high strung nervous energy, you may feel restless and emotional. Venus in Cancer is good for healing family issues, cooking and sharing good food with loved ones, in good cheer.
Mars enters Virgo, Sun enters Leo
Because off the sign change things are a bit in limbo right now. Mars in Virgo will calm peoples tempers, and puts the focus away from drama and towards the practical side. Good for getting things done.
New Moon 2* Leo
This Moon is all about reinventing yourself. The recent Mercury station here also encourages creative self-expression. How about changing your colors, your ‘do’, or trying something totally new and different? Life is all about self-realization, be your best!
Venus trines Jupiter
Think big, look at the bright side, and it’s another great day for romantic get-togethers. How about a steamy midweek date? There will be strong appetites all the way around, and some water signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio) will get lucky in love or in Vegas.
Mercury SD 21* Cancer
Enough already, time to wrap up the home improvement projects, or leave them unfinished until the next retrograde rolls around. Time to let go of the family drama or rehashing of the past. As Mercury turns direct say goodbye to the bygone and set your sights on new horizons.
Venus trines Uranus
Lots of free-flow creativity, which is good for fun & games, creativity, inspiration and sudden flashes of insights.
