A Slice of Heaven - Leo
By Lola Babalon
The royals of the Zodiac - LEO
As the Sun moves from Cancer to Leo a connection is made between the ultimate feminine and masculine archetypes. The tender, feminine tides of the Moon encounter the blazing, masculine energy of the Sun. You can use this time to take a look at your inner parents, or to empower your relationships. Sun and Moon are the most obvious, visible planetary bodies. They interact and complete each other like the two polarities in the yin/yang symbol. Their cycles affect people’s moods, bio-rhythms and the fertility cycles in nature.
Leo’s are known as the kings and queens of the zodiac. The Sun rules this sign and endows it with natural poise, feline grace and nobility, which makes it easy on the eye. Being born a Leo is a cosmic reward, a privilege. Consider it a karmic payback for good deeds done in other lifetimes. Leo individuals are extroverts that shine in leadership positions, the arts, and creative self-expression. People born under this sign are generally well liked, popular, rarely alone and often found in the performing arts.
If you were born on the 1st, 10th, 19th and 28th of any month your personal number is 1. This means you are strongly influenced by the Sun and can be considered a honorary Leo.
Of course everybody has Leo somewhere in their chart and self-realization is what life is all about. You can tap the golden energy of the Sun for illumination, inspiration, and empowerment. The easiest way to do so involves observing sunsets, sunrises or by getting involved with the arts. Any form of art is creativity put into action. So feel encouraged to make something wild, crazy or beautiful. Social gatherings are fun during Leo time, enjoy concerts, entertainment, parties, and physical workouts. You can also indulge in drama and passion, wear bright colors and enjoy the all good things in life.
A brief quote attributed to Nelson Mandela: “You don’t have to hide your magnificence, just so others won’t feel inferior in your presence.”
So go ahead then, shine on!
Famous Topanga Leo’s:
Angele Dayer, Elisabeth Kaplan, Elizabeth Shapiro, Gary Strauss, Gilbert Levy, Malcolm Groome, Randy Smith, Robyn Feeley, Oliver Scott, Rowan Wynne-Artemoff, Saul David Raye, and my cat Mimi La Bete Noir. Happy Birthday!
Here are a few planetary highlights for the next two weeks. They will be effecting you more strongly if your birthday falls on or near them.
Jul 21 Fullmoon 29* Capricorn
Any planet of 29* degrees of a sign has already done it’s job, the energy is spend, exhausted. Today the Sun, Moon and Venus are in this degree, polarizing the Capricorn/Cancer dynamic one last time. Anything that needs completion can now be finished. Examine your responsibilities and choices, what is it that you need or want. How much you choose to carry, or want to leave behind?
Jul 22 Sun enters Leo, Venus enters Virgo (Earth!) and Mercury SR
As the planets enter their new territory there is a lifting of spirits. Bleak moods and outlooks improve towards an ‘anything is possible’ attitude. Mercury stations today and begins it’s three week retrograde journey through Leo. The fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius will be strongly influenced by this retrograde. You can meet this quirky trickster halfway by taking time out to redo, review or reinvent things. A good time to rethink your self-expression, to change your appearance or style. Start new artistic projects and endeavors. Venus in Virgo brings you home to good food, healthy choices and collective support of each other.
Jul 23 Sun conjunct Saturn
A good day for professional and career moves. Start anything that requires discipline, commitment or endurance. The mood is sober and realistic, nose to the grindstone. Like it says in the I-Ching: perseverance furthers.
Jul 26 Moon in Aries, grand trine w/ Mercury retrograde and Pluto in Sag.
A grand trine is a continuous loop, a hot wired circuit in which things evolve quickly, as if by their own accord. Look out for intense exchange of ideas, conversations that go down the deep end, impulsive reactions, synchronicities. Mars at 29* of Aries must be tired of being the though guy. Because it’s approaching a square to Saturn there may be high tension in the political arena. People are prone last minute impulsive decisions, sudden reversals and changes of the mind or heart.
Jul 27 Mars goes into Taurus
After Venus now Mars plops into the physical realm, reminding you to take care of the body, slow steady plotting, slowing down. Mars will be spending nearly 6 months in this sign, because it’s doing a retrograde period in fall. Good for taking charge of your physical, spiritual and financial needs especially for Earth signs: Capricorn, Virgo and Taurus.
Jul 31 Venus opposed Uranus, Mars square Saturn
A highly charged day with lots of tension and opportunity. You will feel extra idealistic, independent, freedom loving and wish to challenge the status quo. Not great for getting cooperation from others, as everybody is busily doing their own thing.
Aug 2 Mercury opposed Neptune
This retrograde is in opposition to Neptune in Aquarius. People’s intuitions are keen, but their minds are easily distracted. Watch out for hazy misunderstandings, space cadets, psychic experiences and advanced eccentricity.
Aug 4 Newmoon 13* Leo, conjunct Mercury retrograde, opposed Neptune
A good day to reinvent yourself, to dive into the core of your creativity and inner vision. Meditate on who you are and what you want. How does your individuality meet your community? Create consensus between the many and the one. Good for inward journeys, yoga, meditation and creative artwork.
To be continued - much love to all and many blessings.
