The planetary picture this month shows much activity in Air and Water signs. This indicates minds going a mile a minute, and emotions on a rollercoaster ride. Of course to some extend that’s what minds and feelings do, only more so. In a nutshell: think of Air as thought, Water as feelings, Fire as action and the Earth as substance, reality-check. Add to that Pluto in Sagittarius, and Mars entering it’s own sign of Aries on the 12th. This makes for a fairly volatile mix. Until July 23rd there won’t be any planets in Earth signs, except for the Moon’s occasional visit. This built-up during the longest days of the year, the summer solstice, is followed by the Full Moon in Capricorn. The Earth signs (Capricorn, Virgo, Taurus) will be in high demand, for their practical, no-nonsense ability to hold space and focus on the things that matter.
Mercury’s number is 5, it rules the signs of Gemini and Virgo. Those born on the 5th, 14th or 23rd of any month are under its influence. These people are known for their wit, intelligence and ability to make friends easily.
Mercury is open to all possibilities, and will not be confined to a tried and true, conservative approach. Variety is the spice of life. Mercury is also a smooth shape-shifter. In the Tarot this messenger of the gods appears as the magician, the juggler and Jack-of-all-trades.
Everybody has Mercury somewhere in the chart, but you can spot those under its influence by their tendency to talk a lot. Thinking out loud, often accompanied by wild gestures, helps them to sort out their busy minds. Air signs often have delicate features with high foreheads and wide set eyes. Any asymmetry of the body is a Mercury signature, especially if the eyes have different colors.
In Palmistry the pinkie or fifth finger of the hand relates to Mercury. It shows how one reaches out into the world and communicates. If it is bends inward there is shyness and introversion. If it bends outward there is much curiosity and inquisitiveness. Some people have a large gap between the pinky and ring finger. These are the true eccentrics, independent mavericks that literally have a mind of their own and will not stoop to consensus reality at all.
Now you can benefit from the foods related to Mercury. These are:
Asian Pear, Alfalfa, Almonds, Beans, Caraway, Celery, Fennel, Filberts, Lemongrass, Lentils, Marjoram, Peppermint, Parsley, Pecan, Pistachios, Pomegranates, and all kinds of bubbly, carbonated drinks. Cheers! (Quote Scott Cunningham, Magic in Foods)
Jun 6, New Moon in Gemini:
New Moons are turning points and new beginnings. Here it’s about communicating from the heart, going deep in relationships and expanding horizons and territories. It’s a bit early in the season, but travels and long distance connections should be going smoothly.
Jun 7, Mercury opposed Pluto, Sun trine Neptune
A good time for counseling and healing work, as you can get in touch with core issues. Keep your eye on the ball, look at the big picture and don’t be intimidated by details. Avoid spacing out, especially at work or behind the wheel.
Jun 10, Mercury square Mars, Venus square Jupiter
Both Mercury and Mars are on their last leg, squaring off in the last degree of their signs. Good for finishing, getting to the root of things. A tense and busy time, watch out for arguments spiraling off the deep end, going off on tangents and voracious appetites. There is no need to prove anything or make major decisions right now.
Jun 11, Mercury goes into Cancer, Mars into Aries
Mars crossing into its signs marks a shift towards action, new enterprises, especially for the cardinal signs (Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, Libra). Opportunities, new ideas and assertiveness rule, so feel encouraged to get going now.
Jun 12, Venus trine Uranus, Moon in Virgo until the 14th
The Virgo moon provides an anchor to reality, because it’s the only planet in the Earth element right now. Take care of business and financial matters during this time. Get as much done as possible, good for health, healing and bodywork. Quality time can be had between girlfriends a.k.a. yoni yakking.
Jun 13, Sun opposed Pluto,
This is a busy day for the mutable signs. (Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius) It can be a challenge to the status quo and shift in power structures. Opposites attract, today the brightest light encounters the furthest, coldest planet in the outer reaches of the solar system. Meditate on your polarities and belief systems. Thoughts create reality, where do you choose to go from here?
Jun 14, Uranus SR
The awakener / de-conditioner of the planets is beginning its 6 month retrograde journey today. You may feel impatient, antsy and more eccentric than usual. Look out for weird synchronicities and ‘life is stranger than fiction’ happenings.
Jun 15 Mercury square Jupiter, Moon eclipses Jupiter,
The mind is very active, good for any kind of study or business venture. This can facilitate lofty ideals, ambitious plans and hard earned compromise.
Jun 17 to 19,
A little planetary breather while the Moon is making lots of trines. This is a fairly mellow time, with lots of Water energy. Father’s day weekend will be emotional, passionate and tender. So treat your dad, or yourself to some fun, games and TLC as the case may be.
Jun 20, 21, Sun enters Cancer, followed by the Full Moon 1*Capricorn
The Full Moon occurs just after the solstice and highlights the global family, community and people’s family of choice. Socialize, re-parent and nurture yourself. Remember, it’s never too late to have a happy childhood!
More on this and on the lunar tides rocking the sign of Cancer in the next issue. Until then – much love to all and many blessings
